Last Day in SF
I had been receiving updates about the crazy superstorm that was forecast to hit DC and Baltimore. I did not relish the idea of landing in 6" of snow and heavy wind; American Airlines extended an offer to their customers that allowed people to change their reservations. So, I gave myself an extra day in Santa Fe. It turns out that the forecast was wrong and this delay wasn't necessary, but... whatever.
I honestly didn't do much with it. The constant sight seeing and lack of sleep had worn me down. I visited the Museum of International Folk Art. Nice, large exhibits. Quite a few doll houses and elaborate, intricate dioramas, in addition to stand-alone exhibits from around the world. It was worth seeing. After that, I had a lunch of turkey meatloaf with a side of gravy at Harry's Roadhouse (one of the top restaurants in Santa Fe, according to yelp). The food was tasty and the service was friendly and prompt; I'd give it 5 stars. Because I had to leave at 4:30 the next morning to catch my flight (and was generally run down from a lack of sleep during the vacation), I spent the rest of the afternoon semi-napping or writing the blog in Karen and Bill's apartment while waiting for them to get home. For dinner, we had leftover potato soup, then watched "Assassination of a High School President."
So, all in all, this was an excellent trip. I enjoyed traveling with Karen again, and catching up with her, Bill, and Jaymin. They have some wonderful friends down in Santa Fe and have made a nice life for themselves. I don't know when I'll be able to make it out there again, but I liked it enough, and there's still plenty to see. I can definitely envision another such trip to the American SW in the future.
